My Techno Obsession crossover

“Nite Time”
George Acosta
Featuring
Kate Walsh

Hello lovely people!
I have thought of another series… thing… another section to put songs to talk about in. It probably won’t be updated frequently, but I felt the need to make this. Why? Because I am currently obsessing over a song called Nite Time, hey wait it's a techno song...

Do You know what that means?

It's time for a CROSS OVER!
What's crossing over?

I shall tell you!
Techno take over meets my obsession with the song Nite Time by George Acosta featuring Kate Walsh. I was going to make this just a techno take over, but this song doesn't have enough lyrics to properly look at them, so to ensure I don't get a short review it is going in with My obsession because this song is beautiful and I spent a week or more listening to it so that's how it qualifies in the my obsession category.

The Lyrics!

“Time to go
It's time to go
Whatever this means
He's happy it seems”

Time to go where I couldn't tell you, but apparently it makes the guy presumably her love interest happy so she's happy... Well that's great and all but is the other person happy for their own reasons other than because he's happy?

“After night
In boundless light
He calls my name
I do the same”

Seduction maybe?

“After this
A simple kiss
Return my eyes
A true disguise”

I think seduction is occurring... this verse is repeated again in an echo so no need to put the lyrics again. Kate Walsh's voice is absolutely hypnotic. It's very delicate and I hope the US is smart and plays more of her music, or if I'm lucky the radios will pick up this song!

“So I'll be a fleeting sound
A light ray out on the water
And I'll know his secret name
And tell him about the nite time
Tell him about the nite time”

Now this is the chorus, I have seen three versions “A Light ray out on the water,”
“A life played out on the water” and “A Life lay out on the water.” Which version I like? I'm not sure but I find myself singing
“A Life played out on the water” and “a life lay out on the water.” Now back to the seduction possibility, let's ditch that idea until I can bring it back in somehow. Now that I think about it I'm not sure what these lyrics could mean... there's an underlying tone of romance... a secret romance, people out at night somewhere one partner not so sure what's going on but the other seems happy so in turn she feels happy. Maybe at one point she starts to have second thoughts and all he has to do is say her name and she feels reassured about their secret date... I have no idea how to explain the return my eyes a true disguise. And if the girl is slightly shy and uncertain about what's going on, the chorus can't be through her perspective, well it could be. Okay starting over:

I think in the beginning this couple is sneaking out somewhere (or out on a late night date) the girl might have been in a few crummy relationships maybe with someone who was hard to please and now she's met who she thinks is Mr. Right and she's just head over heels for him. And with the actions leading up until this point she's unsure of where everything is going but she knows he is happy so she knows she should be happy too.
I'm assuming they talk about something which is why he called her name and she probably says something romantic back to him and then they obviously kiss. (Still not sure how the next two lines work in this story) Oh maybe he was disguising his emotions or they both were and it's now been revealed they have stronger feelings towards each other.

The chorus is still confusing, maybe his secret name is a name he wants her to call him when they're alone. Tell him about the Nite Time... She'll know his secret name and tell him about the nite time...

I have no clue... So I shall move on!

How I found the song!

Sirius Satellite Radio's BPM station, I've heard this song a million times but never really paid attention to it. It got stuck in my head one day just the line “Tell him about the nite time” so I googled it and found it. It took me a while to find the right version that wasn't a remix or claimed to be the original mix but cuts off randomly at the end, but I found it.

Why I am obsessed with it!

Kate Walsh is why I am obsessed with it! Her voice is beautiful the way the song is in a whisper at points along with her delicate voice and the trance music to fit it (could have been better) it's a perfect combination. I will admit the music isn't as captivating as Breath of Ghost, but the vocals and that little piano part completely makes up for it. Actually during the verses and chorus it's okay it's the long music interludes that sometimes are a bit weak. Like the outro of the song could have been much better than that. There's not much to it and it sounds like any other techno/trance beat. Make you beginnings and endings stand out you'll have a better song just look at any Assemblage 23 song it might be a “gothic form of techno” but you can still use it as an example.

I really do love this song I can listen to it for forever just like I shall forever be thinking of what the chorus could possibly mean. This was my first choice for a cross over song, I'm pretty sure there will be more in the future. I hope you go listen to it afterwards it is a really pretty song despite my attempt at constructive criticism because I like to nit pick at things.

I must back track to the chorus, I honestly think its saying a million things but yet it might not be saying much at all. It makes me smile yet I don’t know why, this whole song reminds me of when little kids are telling secrets to each other. It’s like that kind of cuteness. Someone telling someone a secret a gossiping sort of secret but it’s not gossip it’s just what happened the other night with her lover.

That's all for this review if you like it come back for more if not oh well then…

** Update** I got Itunes gift cards for my birthday and have purchased the radio edit of this song (and some other songs) I recommend the radio edit version it’s by far the coolest out of the versions I’ve heard. It cuts the song which I think was originally 9 minutes long to 3 minutes but it’s worth it.
